Traditional method of air circulation in such cabins is usually based on air inlet through a central diffuser at the ceiling

and output from a door opening. To enhance air distribution, especially in discomfort zones, increasing air velocity is usually the direct solution followed. However, this recourse has its diverse effect of occupants of upper beds. To improve traditional design, a case study representing a real ship was considered, where field measurements of air parameters inside a crew cabin was considered and simulated using a well known CFD computer package and different criteria such as ADPI, .., were considered to measure design improvement.
