Materials and/or Equipment: Piano keyboard The following on CD: Simple Gifts, Patty Works On the Railway Variations on America, Sarias Ragtime Jazz, and 50 Nifty United States Activities and Procedures: Anticipatory Set: Sing Simple Gifts and/or review Theme and Variations Lesson Sequence: Teach Patty Works on the Railway, discussing the historical context of the song Teach xylophone part to Patty Works on the Railway Add percussion parts to Patty Works on the Railway if time allows Extras: Sarias Ragtime Jazz 50 Nifty United States Trombone and euphonium Closure: Review main points of the class and thank students for their participation Modifications for Individual Differences: Modify movements or instrumental parts as needed for students with physical disabilities of any kind. Evaluation: Evaluate performance based on participation and active involvement with the songs and associated movements. Assignments: None
