Lesson Objectives Students will be able to Learn about the different types of natural disasters Draw pictures of the different shapes associated with natural disasters (ex: cone shape for a tornado). Make a mobile of different everyday things that have the same shape in common with the disaster. Materials Needed Paper Tape Metal hanger Yarn/string

Books/magazines to look at pictures Crayons/markers/colored pencils Hole puncher

Anticipatory Set Today we are going to learn about natural disasters. Who can tell me what are some types of natural disasters? .... Instructional Input 1. Brainstorm the different types of natural disasters. 2. Look through the book to find a picture of each kind of disaster then draw a picture of it and cut them out (pictures that you draw should be kind of large). 3. Divide into groups and brainstorm everyday items that are the same shape as the natural disaster. 4. Draw pictures of the things your group came up with and cut them out. 5. With the yarn tie each natural disaster to hang from the hanger and spread them out. 6. With cut out pictures of the everyday items hole punch them and use the yarn to then hang them from the disaster that they are associated with. 7.
