Learning Environment (LO 2.8 & 2.

9) (APS 8 & 9) Classroom Management Classroom management is a critical role when it comes to teaching. Teachers play various roles in a typical classroom, but surely one of the most important I learned is that of classroom manager. Effective teaching and learning cannot take place in a poorly managed classroom. Well-managed classrooms provide an environment in which teaching and learning can flourish. I take classroom management serious because teachers I know I am important factor affecting student achievement. Classroom management should create a positive environment that allows everyone to express themselves and behave appropriately. Any behavior that is inappropriate or distracts learning will be addressed immediately according to classroom and school policies. I take the act of bullying serious and that will definitely not be tolerated in my classroom. I will promote cooperative and collaborative learning in my classrooms to enhance student knowledge and help students work with one another and respect their peers opinions. Rules for My Classroom Classroom Rules (LEARN) 1. Listen to instructions 2. Enter and Exit prepared 3. Always try your BEST 4. Respect yourself and others 5. No EXCUSES! Behavior Consequences for My Classroom Behavior Consequences First Offense: Warning Second Offense: Lunch Detention and Call Home Third Offense: Referral (Written Up) Fourth Offense: Sent to the office and a note home
Any offense beyond that will be in the hands of the resource officer.

Positive and Negative Reinforcements: At the end of each week I will choose a Superior Student of the Unit based off of a student who has performed extraordinary well in the classroom regarding behavior, preparedness, helpfulness, respect to peers, and grades during a unit. This student will be given 15 extra points on their unit test. It is possible for there to be more than one student chosen for this reward. Students that do not adhere to behavior policies or academic expectations will be disciplined according to the classroom or school policies.

Non-Instructional Routines and Procedures Each day class begins students will do their normal routine. Upon entering the class students will grab a pre-test and complete the five questions to assess any prior knowledge they have of the content about to be taught. They will have five minutes after the bell rings to complete this activity. As students are done completing any activity, materials will be collected by having students place their work in the respected pile on the back counter. When materials are needed to be passed out I will distribute the materials or choose students to do it. I will be the only person who hands back graded work which will be given face down. Students are given three times during the week they may exit the classroom for no longer than five minutes to either go to their locker or the restroom. I will keep track of their uses for this weekly. I am lenient with emergency or personal purposes. As for dismissal of class, students are not to get out of their seats until after the bell has rung and I have dismissed them. Any case in which the school has an emergency and everyone is to exit, students will be directed to follow the rules given by the school or line up at the door as we walk in a line to the respected area, followed by me taking attendance.
