Newtons 1st Law

*Newtons 1st law states that an object
in motion stays in motion and an object at rest stays at rest.*
Example 1: Bowling balls on alleys: The bowling ball will keep on moving until it touches the pins. If that alley continued on forever, then that bowling ball would continue to be in motion on that same speed until friction slowed it down.

Newtons 2nd Law

*Newtons 2nd law states that unbalanced
forces cause acceleration. The acceleration can speed up, slow down, or change directions.* Balanced forces are when forces push or pull an object in one direction and are the same size as the forces acting on the opposite direction. To solve for force, the
formula is (Force = Mass X Acceleration) or F=MA. Example 1: Kyle Buschs car tires weigh about 1,500grams. His car broke in the middle of the race track and one tire flew. He needs to take the tire to the pit stop. The acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s/s.

Newtons 3rd Law

*Newtons 3rd law states that every action has an equal reaction.*
Example 1: When you hit a volleyball with your hand, there is equal force exerted on your hand and the volleyball. Both the hand and the volleyball have the exact amount of force.

(Convert grams into Kg before you solve)

F=MA conversion:
Example 2: Another example, is when someone is riding a bike, and they hit a branch on the way. The man will not stop like the bike, he will continue to fly forward until he hits the floor. He will fly forward because he is in motion and wants to stay in motion. This is also known as inertia, resistance to change.

=1.5KG
Example 2: When you run or even walk, there is equal force exerted on your foot and the floor. It doesnt matter how much weight there is, it is always the same.

(1.5KG)(9.8M/s/s) = 14.7N F=14.7N

Example 2: Another example, is when people play tug of war, the people who lose have less force, so they accelerate or fall down.

Action : Push from the shoe onto the floor.

Reaction: Push from the floor onto the sole of the shoe.
