Reece Lambert Is There A Pot of Gold at The End of The Rainbow

For years we have all heard that if we could find the end of a rainbow, that we would find a pot of old! This is a myth that has been passed alon eneration after

eneration! Rainbows are merely reflections of li ht and are not stationary ob"ects at all! They are also circles and therefore cannot have a pot of old at the end of them, because they do not end anywhere! #ecause the sun is round, and li ht travels in a strai ht line, rainbows, which are a reflection of the sunli ht off of water droplets, are circles as well! Rainbows are formed when sunli ht hits droplets of rain! The sun$s rays must be within %& de rees of the hori'on to refract so we can see them! #ecause that is so low we can never see the full circle of a rainbow! (e "ust see the top part of the arc while the rest is below the hori'on! #ecause rainbows are merely reflection of the sun)s li ht they are not physical ob"ects and can not be approached! The reflection always appears from the direction opposite from the sun! As you move, the reflection of li ht moves with you, ma*in it appears as if the rainbow is also movin ! ! As li ht enters the surface of a water droplet it is refracted! The li ht then reflects off of the bac*side of the droplet and a ain upon e+itin the droplet! The li ht is reflected bac*

over the an les of the droplet, causin the arc effect! The amount of li ht bein reflected depends on its wave len th and determines the color of the arcs! Each droplet acts li*e a prism, splittin the li ht into different colors, each of which is bent at a sli htly different an le! The outside of a rainbow will always appear red while the inside is violet! Rainbows are actually separate discs of different si'es! These discs overlap, each bein shorter than the other at the top! Each color shows the top rid e of each individual disc! Rainbows consist of seven rid e colors and show up as a bri ht white li ht in the center where all the discs are over, lappin ! Rainbows can appear within any airborne water droplets if the sun)s li ht is comin from the ri ht direction, at the ri ht hei ht, at the ri ht time of the day! Rainbows can appear due to waterfalls, sea mist, water fountains, sprin*ler systems or any other water source! -o if you are ever loo*in for the pot of old at the end of the rainbow, you certainly will never find one! The Irish understood this and were *nown to say that one was as li*ely to find a pot of old as to find the end of a rainbow! .ver years the e+pression somehow chan ed and became the myth that we all *now today!
