Courtney Eisenmann Professor Rubio EDU 360 3 December 2012 Technology Assessment 2 Level 2 Question: What are Inspiration

and Bubble.us? This question was intended to be the easiest question as categorized by level 2. However, 9 out of the 14 total students were able to respond correctly. This was only about 64.39% of the students. For a level 2 question this is a little lower than I wouldve expected because I felt like it was a fairly general conceptual question that most people should be able to answer. While looking at the difficulty and discrimination index I saw that it was at 0.29. As a level 2 question I would like to see it a little bit closer to 1. I think the nature of the question was not meant to be confusing but in doing it again, I would try to choose wrong answers perhaps that were more blatantly wrong. The other 2 answer options for the question also included the term concept map which could have confused students a little so in the future I would consider altering the wrong answer options.

Level 3 Question: One of the main benefits of using concept mapping in the classroom is: . The results of this question also surprised me a little bit. Only 7 (50%) of the students were able to answer this question. I felt that it was an appropriate level 3 question because it isnt basic knowledge but it digs a little under the surface to get the students thinking about the benefits of concept mapping. In order to answer the question, they must first know what concept maps are. The question being a little more difficult still had a discrimination index of 0.29 which I think for a more difficult question is good. The students who demonstrated proficiency on the quiz were able to also demonstrate proficiency on this question. I dont think I would change anything about the format of this question.

Level 4 Question: Describe an example or scenario of using either concept mapping or brainstorming that you as a teacher could use within a lesson in a classroom. Choose one and be prepared to share your scenario. I believe this was an appropriate question to ask for a level four question because it required the application of the content discussed in class. The students learned about concept mapping and brainstorming and the benefits of both so I chose to ask them how would they would apply this in their classroom. In general, students felt a little more comfortable with concept mapping just due to the fact that our class discussion included more talk of that topic. If I were to do it again, I would try calling on people individually in order to make the class discussion be more valuable for this question. I would maybe even try having each student share in order for them to demonstrate they know the application of the concepts.
