Gkhan Acar The effect of project-based learning on students motivation

Abstract: The aim of this study is to examine the effects of the project-based learning on students motivations. The study includes 266 active sporting students attending the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and the 4th degrees in the Department of Teaching Physical Education and Sports in the Kastamonu University during the 2012-2013 educational year. When the regression analysis on the effect of the project-based learning levels of the professional sportsmen on the motivational sub-dimensions is examined, it has been observed that the model has not been significant in terms of the instinctive process, instrumental and external personality (P>0,05). There is not a significant relation amongst the project-based learning levels of the amateur sportsmen and the levels of the instinctive process, instrumental and external personality. And the model is observed to have been significant in terms of the internal personality and target internalization (P<0,05). An increase of 1 unit in the project-based learning levels will cause a 6,2% decrease in the internal personality level and 10,1% in target internalization level. An increase of 1 unit in the project-based learning levels of the amateur students will not cause any change in the levels of the instinctive, instrumental and external personality. When the regression analysis about the project-based learning levels of the national sportsmen on the motivational subdimensions is examined, it has been observed that the model has not been significant in terms of the instinctive process, instrumental, external personality, internal personality and target internalization (P>0,05). There is not a significant relation amongst the project-based learning levels of the national sportsmen and the levels of instinctive process, instrumental, external personality, internal personality and target internalization (P>0,05).
