Subject: Values Interests and Skills Dear Elizabeth Anderson: After tanking The Myers- Brigs type indicator test I believe I learned a lot about myself. This test helped me know what my values and interests were and also gave me a list of possible career choices. I am glad you suggested that I take this test. I think that everyone should take this test because many people including myself have had difficulty deciding on good possible career choices. The results of this test said that I was an ESFP personality type. I would like to share a few of my own values with you. Some of my values are helping others, teamwork, work ethic, education, ambition, open mindedness, creativity, understanding, reason and clarity. I think that these are great values and can be used in the workplace in a variety of situations. For example I think that teamwork is a great value because you need to know how to get along with others and work as a team in just about every job setting. I currently work in a bake shop and I use this value every day. I need to work with my coworkers as a team to get work done. If I did value good teamwork not as much would get done. Next I would like to share with you some of my interests that can be of value in the workplace. Some of my interests are helping others, reading, creativity/ art and health. I think the most important interest I have is that can be useful in the workplace is helping others. I want to do something that will help others because it will help me feel good about myself like I am actually making a contribution that will help humanity in some way. Lastly I would like to explain to you what skills I think I have, and how they can be useful in the workplace. I believe that I have the ability to work with people, patience, creativity, and good listening skills. One skill I wish to describe is my ability to work with people. I make it a goal of mine to try to get along with everyone. If I disagree with someone I still try to see things form their point of view. I try to be patient with everyone especially in the work place. As I mentioned earlier the results of the personality assessment said that I was a ESFP personality type. Each percentage was very low though. E was 1%, S was 12%, F was 12% and P was also 12%. This means that there was only a slight preference towards each of the qualities. I looked up good career choices for this personality type and it suggested Sales representative, counselor/ social worker, fashion designer, interior decorator and photographer. I chose event planner which is not in the suggested careers but I think it is similar to many of them in the creative aspect. I still think that this would be something that I could enjoy.

December 8, 2013 Ms. Elizabeth Anderson 425 Fawell Blvd, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 Dear Ms. Anderson: Once I get my degree and finish college I need to begin looking for a job, but before I even finish college I plan to get at least one internship. I believe getting a good internship is one of the best things you can do career wise. Getting an internship will provide me with experience in the field and by doing an internship I can truly discover if that particular job is for me. Currently I am studying communications and think that I want to get a job in event planning since it seems to interest me and it is a growing field for the future. After I do an internship I plan to network with people I have met at college that know people in this field, since I do not have any current personal connections with people in this field. I will start to build up a list of people of people who work in this profession. I will also use LinkedIn to my advantage to try to meet new people. If I am interested in a position I will give the business a call to try to see if they are looking for new people. I will try to do this as often as possible. I will try to stay in contact with important people I met during the job search. To make my resume look good I will try to update it as often as possible. I think I will also have my personal resume available electronically. Even when I do find a job I plan to stay in any of the professional groups I have joined. Sincerely,

Shelly Kasper
