Instruction of students occurs in whole class or small groups. Highly qualified elementary teachers. General education classrooms, After school programs, summer programs Highly qualified elementary classroom teachers with support from a 504 specialist, special education teacher, or a ESL teacher. Endorsed teacher Students whose needs have not been met through Tier 1. Students to fail to meet Tier 1 objectives in one or more critical areas. Four to five times per week, for an additional 15-20 minutes beyond Tier 1 instruction. Skills and strategies in other content areas. Targeted, systematic, explicit instruction. Differentiated instruction in small groups, Explicit connections between different representations. Guided practice and manipulatives.

Tier 3

Appropriate specialized instructional setting within the school. Elementary mathematics intervention specialist, special education teacher, or ESL endorsed teacher.

All students receive instruction.

Students who have not responded successfully to Tier 2 interventions.

How much time should be scheduled for this tier?

1 hour of core instruction a day.

Minimum of 20-30 minutes daily in addition to Tier 1 instruction.
