The subject of my lesson will be to divide multi-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. The grade level is my fourth grade classroom.

The date I will be teaching this is about November 19th 2012. The Utah State Standard for Mathematical Practice is: Use place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi-digit arithmetic. CC.4.NBT.6 Find whole number quotients and remainders with up to four digit dividends and on-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models. I want students to be able to apply this method into everyday life and be able to see why it is important for them to learn it. I also am still looking for a book that could help introduce this lesson to make it authentic and fun instead of just doing a lesson our of the book. I also want o include an activity that they can do as groups at their table.
HOW you will teach. If you are not sure look at the USOE website for a list of the Standards for Mathematical Practice. Also what are the Literacy/Language objective of this lesson. One book that comes to mind is Divide and Ride by Stuart Murphy. It is a little simple, but may be what you are looking for as an introduction.
