STI HIV/AIDS

How is it Contacted HIV is passed through contact with infected body fluids such as vaginal secretions, semen, pre-semen, breast milk, and blood. Passed person-to-person by sharing food or water or through direct contact with an infectious person. Hepatitis B is a sexually transmitted infection and can be spread through anal, vaginal or oral sex with an infected partner. It spreads primarily by blood-to-blood contact.

Signs, Symptoms & Consequences Weight loss and fatigue, night sweats, loss of appetite, constant diarrhea and recurring yeast infections. Fatigue Fever Nausea Appetite loss Tiredness, aching joints, pain in the stomach area, loss of appetite, nausea and a general feeling of sickness. Mild and vague, including a decreased appetite, fatigue, nausea, muscle or joint pains, and weight loss. Chlamydia symptoms in women Abnormal vaginal discharge that may have an odor Bleeding between periods Painful periods Abdominal pain with fever Pain when having sex Itching or burning in or around the vagina Pain when urinating

Treatment There is no cure for HIV

Hepatitis A

There is no specific treatment for hepatitis A.

Chlamydia

Chlamydia is mainly passed through sexual activity: vaginal or anal sex with an infected partner oral sex, although this is less common sharing sex toys touching parts of the body with fingers (for example, chlamydia often occurs in the eyes)

Chlamydia can be easily treated and cured with antibiotics. HIV-positive persons with chlamydia should receive the same treatment as those who are HIV-negative

Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea is spread through unprotected oral, anal and vaginal sex with an infected person. It can also be spread from an infected mother to her baby during birth.

Gonorrhea infection may occur in the rectum, penis, cervix or throat. Both men and women may have no symptoms, and sometimes a womans symptoms may be mistaken for a bladder or urinary tract infection. Itchiness of genitals Small blisters in the vagina or on the vulva or cervix; on or around the penis or testicles; on or around the anus; or on the thighs or buttocks Itching or burning sensation and occasional minor bleeding as a result of anal sex or bowel movement.

Non-prescription shampoo that can be purchased at a pharmacy, clinic or doctors office. Usually one wash is all it takes. In cases where a second washing is needed, apply it four days after the first treatment. The pharmacist will be able to help you. For men and women, testing for gonorrhea requires a swabbing of the infected area or a urine sample. It is important to remember that this test is not part of a regular pap test screening for cervical cancer. No cure for herps

Herpes

Through direct vaginal, oral or anal sexual contact with an infected partner. HPV is also the worlds most common sexually transmitted infection and is transmitted by skin-to-skin (including sexual) contact

Human Papilloma virus (HPV)

Regarding treatment, unlike bacteria, viruses cannot be destroyed with antibiotics, and there is currently no medical cure to eliminate an HPV infection. Treatment depends on the type of HPV infection and in the case of cervical cancer the stage of development. Syphilis can be cured with antibiotics.

Syphilis

It is passed along through anal, vaginal or oral sex.

It progress through four stages: primary, secondary, latent and tertiary.

Prevents from pregnancy primarily by stopping the ovaries from releasing an egg Condoms protect you and your partner from un wanting pregnancy Protects you from pregnancy, bacterial infections and pelvic inflammatory disease

Condom

The patch does not protect against sexually transmitted infections You may also notice some skin irritation The condom may slip off during sex

Spermicide

By inserting in vagina

You got to insert it right before sex. May irritate the entrance of the vagina or the tip of the penis.

Cervical Cap

Insert it deep down in vagina

It provides a woman with privacy and control, because she can insert it before sex. Its the only contraceptive controlled by females that protects them from both pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. Can be a failure of 5% 99% effective

It doesnt protect against sexually transmitted infections. and they can be expensive around $3 each
