COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course emphasizes the further development of oral communication, reading, and writing skills using a broad-based
theme such as adolescence. Students expand their knowledge of French by studying a series of theme related topics,
such as students’ rights and responsibilities, relationships with peers and adults, and part-time jobs:

UNITS OF STUDY: The order of the units may vary between classes.
Unit 1 Youpi! Je peux conduire Theme: Learning to drive

Language skills :
Revision of the present verb tense;
Imperative verb tense;
Position of pronouns with the imperative verb tense;
Affirmative and negative infinitives following an
impersonal expression;
Prepositions with geographical names.

Unit 2 De l’idée à la réalité Theme : An Ideal Job

Language skills :
Personal object prounouns (me, te, se, nous, vous);
Relative pronouns (ce qui, ce que, dont);
Linking words (c’est-à-dire, après tout, en effet);
Conjonctions (lorsque, dès que, quand cependant);
Use of the imperfect and the past verb tenses.

Unit 3 À votre santé Theme : A Healthy Lifestyle

Language skills:
Object pronoun en to replace expressions of quantity;
Imperfect verb tense and conditional present verb tense;
Conditional present to discuss politeness.
