A CURRENT CONTROLLER DESIGN FOR CURRENT SOURCE INVERTER-FED AC MACHINE DRIVE SYSTEM

ABSTRACT:
A current source inverter (CSI) requires a capacitor filter for the commutation of switching device as well as for attenuating switching harmonics. Hence, the CSI-fed ac machine has a second-order s stem in the continuous time domain. !his paper presents a design methodolog for the closed-loop current controller of the CSI-fed ac machine drive s stem. A multiloop current controller design using a pole"#ero cancellation method is emplo ed with a transfer function matri$. !o decouple the cross-coupling terms which cause mutual interferences %etween the d- and q-a$es in the s nchronous reference frame, two t pes of controller are proposed and implemented using different decoupling method. Additionall , active damping methods are incorporated to enhance the sta%ilit of the s stem. A sta%ilit anal sis in discrete-time domain is investigated to verif the feasi%ilit of the proposed closed-loop current controller. !o evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed current controller, computer simulations and e$perimental tests were performed and the results are discussed.
