Baptism summarizes the entire homily last Sunday. This topic reminds me of my own baptism experience when I was a child. Let me share it to you.

Then I keep on asking on what is baptism? On why do Christians need to be baptize? On why do they say that it was important in one`s spiritual life. Until that day came, it was in the middle of the ceremony when I feel something weird and different. There is an external force that gives shiver to my spine. I can`t explain what is happening around, the only thing I knew is that I feel at ease and serene peace. The ceremony was ended but my questions were left unanswered.

When I`m growing up, I find the answers to my questions. I find out that baptism is the first sacrament and it was founded by Christ when he said Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit( Mt. 28:19). Baptism offers brand new life. It`s like being born again, opening our eyes for the first time, breathing fresh air at last, and starting over again. It`s also believing and accepting Christ as our savior who breaks the chain of our unpleasant past. The one who set us free from the spiral of sins both original and actual. The one who gives us new chance to live.

Christians need to be baptize in order to be save because its the key to unlock the gate of heaven I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God (Jn 3:5). Being a baptize Christian is being a son of God, a brother of Christ, and a partaker of divine life.

It`s important in one`s spiritual life because its a manifestation that we are true and faithful Christians. We put God as the center of our life and making Him as our top priority than anything else.
