Avonite Surfaces Dark Color Finishing Guidelines

Avonite Surfaces offers a wide range of unique products that are used in many different applications. Some of these products may not be suitable for high traffic applications due to their unique characteristics, dark hues or saturated color. The dark colors listed below are not recommended in high traffic applications and end users should expect a higher level of maintenance to keep the original finish. Because of the dark saturation of these colors it is also recommended that they are installed with at least a satin finish. Matte finishes on dark colors tend to look chalky and smudge easily with fingerprints. For the best aesthetic appearance Midnight Sky and Night Pearl should be installed with a polished or gloss finish. Refer to the finishing steps in the Fabrication Guide or consult with the Avonite Surfaces Technical Services Department for the latest techniques on finishing solid surface.
