KNOWLEDGE FRAMEWORK Comparison of arts & ethics through historical development

Historical development generates meaningful ideas in arts and ethics. We learn about arts and ethics through changes as time goes by. In both arts & ethics, changes are consistent; however, they happen not only in time, but in space as well. The latter implies geographical alterations according to places in the world, which means changes that affect different cultures. Interpretation of arts and understanding of ethics imply a significant effort in terms of general knowledge pertaining to cultural sensitivity. Historical development as a factor that affects arts and ethics could be appropriate/inappropriate to certain cultures. History of both these AOKs have led to their current forms. These forms are not static, but are regularly under progress. An artwork might derive from the historical context in which it was produced and could, for instance, not only reference other earlier masterpieces (whatever their forms are: photography, texts, sculpture), but also determine some future ones. Conventions and values in the arts change over time. This idea is applicable to moral values as well. The nature of ethical thoughts might have changed from that held by Greek & Roman thinkers of the Antiquity. In terms of ethics, the emphasis in the 21 st century is probably more on rights rather than on virtues. Information about historical development is transmitted through specific terminology related to different periods of history in both these AOKs. Historical development is concretized through arts: changes are consistently expressed through varied forms of arts including a diversity of artistic means: painting, cinema, writing Both knowledge in arts and ethics are subject to judgmental interpretation according to the historical context where they are located.
