On the Nagarachouti day, the pooja of Nagantargata
Sankarshanaroopi paramathma will be done.
As per Varaha purana, it is clearly mentioned that on Nagapanchami day, those
who are doing Naaga pooja would be worshipping the shesha, vasuki antaryaami
sankarshaNaroopa of Srihari only.

Garuda Panchami
- Pooja of Garuda Devara
Shesha serves as the bed of Srimannaraayana
Garuda serves as the chariot of Srimannaaraayana.
(They are in the Kakshya No 5. They both are in the same kakshya after
Vayudevaru, Bharathi deviyaru)
Garuda Panchami celebrates mother and sons love, affection, devotion and bond
between each other. The festival is dedicated to Garuda because of his devotion
towards his mother Kadhru.
In some temple, Garuda is treated as Dwarapalaka of Srihari
Traditionally, the snake is said to be the enemy of Garuda, the golden eagle which
is Lord Vishnu's vehicle. But it must be remembered here that Lord Vishnu rests
on Adi Sesha, the thousand-headed serpent. Some of the avatara of Adi Sesha, who
is always with the Lord, are Lakshmana, Balarama. Garuda has no avatara at all.

for naagaas. Garuda brought amruta from devaloka and gave it naagaas and
freed his mother from daasatva. Earlier Garuda was holding sarpaas with
daasya bhaava and after being freed from daasya, he is holding sarpaas with
affection.
10. Garuda it is said that he is sarpa dweshi. No, he kills only dusta sarpaas and
good sarpaas, he is holding as abharana.

13. Garuda brought Kireeta of Srihari, which was stolen by Balichakravarthi.
Raahu has the head of snake - Rahu has the head of snake as his head. Rahu
stays in ant hill (hutta). By pouring milk on Nagapanchami day, Rahu
would be happy and would be blessing with santanaas. Here Rahu means
Dhanvantari roopi bhagavanta.
Subramanya Snake - Normally, wherever there is Subramanya Kshetra,
we see only snakes. Pooja and Naivedya to be done for snakes.
Subramanya blessed sarpaas with their penance and said in future all my
poojas would be done in the roopa of snakes only. As such, the worship of
Subramanya is being done in the roopa of snakes only.
Nagara Chouti/panchami Nagara Chouti - On Nagara Chouti day usually all are not doing the abhisheka to
Naga. Only one or two people in the house would do and they would not take
bhojana on this day. But on Nagara Panchami day all have to do abhisheka to
Naga.
On Nagara Chouti day, in Some families women observe fast - praying for the
prosperity of their brothers.
In some families, there is a tradition that those who does the abhisheka (thani) eat
food without salt.
Some ladies have tradition to take only tiffin (phalaahaara) instead of meals on this
day.

Nagara Panchami - In the early morning, the women and girls have would have
head bath from halu-tuppa (milk-ghee), usually oil bath will not be done on this
day and perform pooja to Havina Huttha or snake carved out of stone or to a silver
snake at home or to the mud snake molded out of mud from huttha. Pour milk,
ghee over it. Some people draw a rangoli / pattern of five snakes in the shrine on
Nagara Panchami. There is a tradition to paint snakes pictures on the outside
walls of their houses. They offer raw Milk(hasi haalu), Gejjevastra, Turmeric
powder, Kumkuma, flowers and soaked Bengal gram.
In some families viz., Deshastaru families there is a tradition that the women
give Nagarachouti adikele containing dakshine, and other valuables to their
brothers.
Some mothers do fasting on this day for the welfare of their children, some ladies
do fasting on this day for the welfare of their brothers.
On this day Yellina chigali, nuchina unde and akki tambittu, godhi payasa prepared
and offered as Naivedya. The Yellu and Akki /Rice used for these dishes will be
used raw i.e, it will neither be roasted nor cooked. Fried items are not prepared on
this day
In many families it is in practice that the brothers and sisters would apply
abhishekita milk on the back (bennu) of both.
