Chapter 1 The Lamp of the Lord

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. ?o$ans .4'7 The Spirit itself IHi$selfJ beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. ?o$ans .4'1 The spirit of man is the candle of the ord, searching all the inward parts of the belly. &ro#er%s /,4/0 Children of God an e6pe t to %e led %y the Spirit of God. <nother translation of &ro#er%s /,4/0 reads! GThe spirit of $an is the lamp of the Lord....G Had this #erse %een written today it $ight ha#e read! But nowhere does God say that God will guide us through our physi al senses. Too often we loo9 at things fro$ a $ental standpoint and endea#or to reason out things. But nowhere does the Bi%le say God will guide us through our $entality. The Bi%le does not say that the %ody of $an is the andle of the Lord! nor that the $ind of $an is the andle of the Lord. *t says that the spirit of $an is the andle of the Lord. Chapter 2 Man: An Eternal Spirit

He is $ade in the li9eness of God. Eesus said that God is a Spirit :Eohn 74/7;. They say! %ody! soul! and spirit. 3hy do they put the %ody firstA Be ause they are $ore %ody- ons ious than spirit- ons ious. +atural things $ean $ore to the$ than spiritual things. So they put physi al things first. So$eti$es we are $ore $ental- ons ious %e ause we li#e $ore in the $ental real$. But $an is a spirit %eing. 3e need to %e spiritons ious. The spirit and the soul are not the sa$e. 5any years ago! %a 9 in the early ),Ds! * %egan an intensi#e study on this su%He t. * got %oo9s fro$ the leading Bi%le s hools and se$inaries! %oth &ente ostal and deno$inational! to see what they taught on the su%He t of $an. +one satisfied $e. +one were a tually s riptural. They were only s riptural! as the Bi%le says! Gin part.G * as9ed leading Bi%le s holars and $inisters a ross the nation. You would re ogniFe so$e of their na$es if * $entioned the$. * e#en heard so$eone as9 one of todayDs $ost well-9nown $inisters! Our spirits %e o$e %rand-new reatures in Christ Eesus. Our souls! howe#er! $ust %e renewed or restored. The greatest need in the Chur h today is to ha#e $inds renewed with the 3ord of God.
