2013-2014 Policies and Procedures

These dates are a schedule of Blair Dance Academy events/activities/holidays for the 2013-2014 dance season. This schedule is slightly different than in years past since the season begins on a Thursday. Starting on a Thursday allows us to take off for Altoona trick-or-treating and the Friday before Memorial Day. This allows all classes to meet an equal number of weeks (34). Taking both of these days off was from numerous suggestions from our families! Please note, the summer recital tech week and dress rehearsal may involve attending on a day you normally do not have class! Full tech week schedule and backstage information will be given out during picture week.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES TERMS o The Blair Dance Academy will provide dance lessons for the student mentioned beginning September 12, 2013 and ending June 14, 2014. This contract is for 34 sessions of each class signed up plus tech rehearsals and practice for our summer recital. To simplify payments, our tuition structure is based on a flat monthly rate for 10 months (SeptemberJune), regardless of the number of class meeting in a given month. TUITION COMMITMENT o Customer agrees to make monthly payments for tuition based on the 13-14 pricing on our registration form. o Payments will be made each month starting September 2013 and end June 2014 (10 months) o Tuition is due by the 1st of each month. We allow a 10 day grace period for payment. A $15.00/month late fee will be assessed to customers who carry a past due tuition or late fee balance on the 11th of each month. o A $20.00 registration fee per family is due upon registering for classes. This fee must be paid before students are enrolled in classes. This fee is 50% off ($10.00) if registered before August 2013 o We accept Cash, Checks, Visa and Mastercard for payment o Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE. Any unused portion of tuition will remain in your account.

SCHEDULING PROCESS o To best accommodate our parents and students, we create a custom schedule each dance season influenced upon availability preferences indicated on our registration form. When you register for classes with BDA, we ask parents to complete a short form that allows for requests of days & times their childrens classes take place. While we can make no promises on accommodating all families requests with our schedule, we painstakingly create a fresh schedule each and every season with these requests in mind and have a very high success rate in meeting these requests. st st o Our schedule will begin to be built on August 1 . Therefore, only registrations received prior to August 1 will be used in our scheduling preferences. Customers can still register for classes after July ends, however we will not be able to take their preferences into account when creating our schedule. MAKE-UP POLICY o Missed classes must be made up within 30 days of the absence and prior to the end of the BDA dance season. o Classes can be made up with a class of an equal or lower level of the class missed. o Permission to make up a class must be given prior to the class being made up, no walk ins are permitted. o To schedule a makeup class, please stop into the office or email info@blairdanceacademy.com COSTUMES o A deposit of $40.00 per class is due by Thursday October 10, 2013. The balance of the costume fee will be due Tuesday December 10, 2013. This structure is to ensure costumes are ordered in time for the recital. The majority of our costumes are custom made and have a lengthy turnaround time. th o Costumes not paid in full by December 10 will be subject to an additional $8.00 per costume fee to cover additional costs for the costume itself and shipping since they will not be purchased during our bulk-buy time. This fee will be strictly enforced. o Please plan for payment of costumes accordingly! BDA families did a great job this past dance season with paying for costumes on time. We cannot stress enough how important this is in order for us to get the best pricing during our bulk buy period. Please feel free to pre-pay amounts for costumes EARLY, since money can get a little tight around the holidays! If you pay too much, we will apply the difference toward tuition CONFLICT RESOLUTION o It is the responsibility of the dancer and/or guardian to notify Mrs. Becky immediately if they have any concerns surrounding their experience at BDA.

New for the 2013-2014 Dance Season Dancers enrolled in classes wishing to add or drop a class after September 27th must have our new Add/Drop form completed, signed off by a parent and turned into the BDA before the change takes effect. This form must also be completed to withdrawal from BDA. Forms are available in the BDA office. o Tuition will continue to be charged at the contracted rate until this form is completed and signed. There will be no exceptions to this policy. th Our late fee policy will be enforced. September tuition will be due on the first day of classes (September 12 ) and late fees nd st will be charged for tuition not paid by September 22 . For October onward, tuition is due by the 1 of each month and we th allow a 10 day grace period for payment. Monthly tuition not paid by the 10 of the month will be subject to our late fee. Starting this dance season, nearly 100% of our correspondence will be done via email. All account statements, newsletters, important notices and weather cancelations (I hope we dont have any!) will be don e via e-mail. When registering for classes, please be sure to list a valid email address you check often and ensure info@blairdanceacademy.com is filtered out of your junkmail. This change is not only better for the environment, but it allows us to more quickly communicate with families when needed (i.e. weather related closings)
