#enviroslug#org" $rgani%ational &ission: The Education for Sustainable Living Program (ESLP) is a collaborative and interdisciplinary effort to reshape the way we learn, effectively mentor students, and engage in projects that support the sustainable development of the ! Santa !ru" !ommunity# sing models of e$periential learning, ESLP supports student%led sections and guest spea&ers which inspire participants to internali"e the concept of sustainability beyond academia and into greater society#

Statements of 'es!onsibilit(: 'uthori"ed representatives of this organi"ation, officers, and organi"ers( % 'ccept responsibility for compliance with niversity policies and campus regulations % Shall abide by the provisions of the anti%ha"ing statues in the !alifornia Education code or Penal code (as amended by S) *+,+ effective, -anuary *, .//0) % 'ffirm that the rules, regulations and policies of the niversity of !alifornia and !S! shall supersede any rules, regulations and policies and1or bylaws of any affiliated international, national, regional or local organi"ation# $rgani%ers: % 'll !S! students interested in the purpose of this organi"ation are eligible to hold an organi"ing position % Students upon being hired, volunteering, or getting credit for an organi"ing position are to be interviewed % 'll organi"ers must complete a vision and action plan at the start of each 2uarter# This is a projected commitment for 2uarterly accomplishments where organi"ers lay out their personal vision, mission, primary responsibilities, goals and desired outcomes, and projected meetings and time commitments to ESLP % 3olding an organi"ing position is limited to currently registered !S! students, with the e$ception of a current organi"er e$tending her1his position one 2uarter after graduation (spring to summer only for credit or paid positions)# 4on%students are welcome to participate in activities, but they may not hold an organi"er position, or vote# )ut ori%ed 'e!resentatives 5ualifications for 6fficers1'uthori"ed 7epresentatives % 8ust be a currently enrolled student at !S! % 8ust have one 2uarter of active e$perience with the Education for Sustainable Living Program before they are able to become an officer1authori"ed representative Co-c airs: ESLP9s organi"ing body is bro&en up into three spheres, which each hold different

responsibilities of the organi"ation# Each sphere has a co%chair, or a lead organi"er position, who heads the responsibilities and operations of that sphere# !o%chairs have the additional responsibilities listed below( % % % % % % 'ttend a wee&ly co%chair meeting and plan core agenda 'ttend and facilitate core meetings Participate in collaborative retreat planning with SE!1 other organi"ations Plan agenda and facilitate respective sphere meetings 7espond to conflicts and new opportunities%%focusing on bigger picture issues and development of ESLP nderstanding S6'7 logistics and communicating this to the core group i#e# accepting responsibilities of being a S6'7 signer

Core &eetings % !ore meetings are mandatory wee&ly meetings where core members gather to discuss organi"ational logistics, vote on decisions and budgetary items as well as give updates on sphere wor& and other issues# The core members consist of interns, co%chairs, organi"ers, and the !hancellor9s ndergraduate :ntern for ESLP# *eneral *at ering: % ' wee&ly open forum for students regarding campus sustainability issues# This gathering is held at the !ollege ; red room on <ednesdays throughout the 2uarter# :t is a joint opportunity of ESLP and SE! to outreach to the greater campus community and attract familiar and unfamiliar students to the realm of environmental and social sustainability# +ecision &a,ing: % =ecisions made by spheres are to be brought to the core meeting but do not need to be voted on for approval unless the decision affects more than one sphere# % =ecisions that affect more than one sphere re2uire a consensus vote by the core group# :f consensus is not reached, we allow more time for discussion after which we hold another consensus vote# :f consensus is not reached again, we allow more time for discussion and re2uire only .1> majority vote# :f unable to attend !ore meeting for votes, update notes before meeting with vote, then respective Sphere9s !o%chair will vote for you# % ?oting privileges shall be granted to all student organi"ers# -inancial 'ecords: % @inancial records shall be &ept and maintained by the heart sphere co%chair along side the organi"ation staff and S6'7 fiscal advisor# 'll projected budgets and e$penditure reports are posted on the website for transparency and audit review# )mendments to t e C arter: % 'ny active core member shall propose amendments to the charter# The changes will be voted into the charter by consensus vote by the core group# S! eres: % 'cademic Sphere 8ission Statement( The role of the 'cademic Sphere ('!') is to provide the necessary guidance and training to lead a class in coordination with the Spring lecture series#

% !ollaboration 4etwor& 8ission Statement( The focus of the !ollaboration and 4etwor& (!ollab%4et) Sphere is to bring awareness about the Education for Sustainable Living Program through outreach programs, publications, fundraising, documentation, and events while collaborating with faculty, staff, students and community members# % 3eart Sphere 8ission Statement( 3eart sphere wor&s on the essential logistical projects to help the organi"ation run# The first tas& 3eart Sphere organi"es is putting together the 8onday 4ight Lecture Series, which includes topic selection, research on different spea&ers, boo&ing the spea&ers, and creating a curriculum that correlates to the lecture topics# 3eart sphere also manages and informs other spheres about the budget# :n the case that ESLP does not have a ! :P a 3eart member serves as the ESLP representative in the Staff Evolution !ommittee, which supervises sustainability programs staff including the Earth Summit# Staff Evolution Committee: % The Staff Evolution committee was put in place to ensure the continued performance of our hired Staff 8anager# The three student organi"ations that utili"e this Staff (Student Environmental !enter, Education for Sustainable Living Program, and !ampus Sustainability !ouncil) all have a seat on this committee# 'pproved constitution( !ore vote on */1>/1./*> :n attendance( 3annah 7eiter, !onner Spears, Laura 7eyes, 8adeleine Turner, 8arlayna Airby, -ordan Le, 'ustin Lewis, )rianna Barcia, -eremiah Tsyporin
