A Curious Case of Q-Tiyapa

Arunabh Kumar, the brains behind the popular The Viral Fever.com gave a guest lecture in NIT SILCHAR about what makes his comedy click
If you reckon with the word, Q-Tiyapa, then youve probably heard of Arunabh Kumar, the founder of The Viral Fever.com. For over two years, their videos have gone viral, just like they planned, especially their spoofs, Rowdies on the popular youth reality show, Roadies or their Gaana Wala Song, a spoof on Student of The Years Ishq wala love and of course their mash-ups on Gangs of Wasseypur, as Gangs of Social Media. The popularity is obvious, The Viral Fever has over 10 million views on their YouTube Channel with over 60000 subscribers and about 30 million minutes have been watched. During the lecture it was more than obvious why he became successful, as his keen observation, interesting questions and his twisted sense of humour kept the audience mesmerized. In the lecture he told about his journey from being an IIT-Kharagpur graduate and having a cushy job in US Army to leaving it altogether to form Indias first and biggest online TV for Indian Youth, how his idea to make an evolved show- liked by people of metros and cities led to the formation of Q-Tiyapa, which he described as addition of the words cuteness and ch***yapa as he believes you can laugh at possibly everything on the face of this planet, right from the worst written joke to the death of a great man. When asked about the funniest element in Indian Culture, he thought for a moment, and replied the inherent tendency of Indians of making a khichdi of everything. We are like all-rounders: bad in everything. Also when asked about what came first the laugh or the joke, he smartly replied the joker. Asked about his dream, he smiled and replied I want The Viral Fever to become one of the biggest youth networks in the country and someday, the world. Wishing him best of luck for his endeavors in future, Viva La Q-Tiyapa;-P
