The procedure as follows: 1)set all sources in network off(current source set open circuit and voltage source set short circuit)then measure(or detrmine )the resistance between the termenal and set the value as Rth 2)measure(or detrmine )the voltage between the two termenal and set it as Vth Example: detrermine the current through 190 resistance in the circuit shown below
Solution: 1)replace 190ohm resistance and set 10v short circuit to determine the R th
Vth=v2+v3=10-v1 V1=10*100/1690 ,v2=10*470/1690 ,v3=10*220/1690 Vth=4.08volt IL=4.08/(1410+190)=2.55mAmp Example(h.w):repeate the above example replacing 10v source with 20mAmp source Example (h,w):repeate the above examples find the current through 220 ohm resistor
Example:for the circuit shown below find the current through R3 using thevenin's theorem
Vth=v2=vs-v1 V2=vs*R2/(R1+R2) , V1=vs*R1/(R1+R2) Example(h.w):repeate above example after replacing vs(voltage source) with Is(current source)
Example: find the currrent through 3ohm resistor using theenin's theorem for the circuit shown below
1)replace 3ohm resistor and set 8 volt to zero as shown below to find Rth
And the current through 3 ohm resistor is I=Eth/(Rth+R4)=4.8/(2.4+3)=.889 Amp Example: repeate above example replacing 8 v by 16 Amp Solution:1)replacing 3 ohm resistor and set 16 Amp off(open circuit) the circuit become
Eth=I1R1 I1=16*2/(6+4+2)=2.667 AMP Eth=2.667*6=16 volt The equevalent thevenine circuit become
I=16/6=2.667 Amp Example:for the circuit shown below find the equevalent thevenine circuit around R L.
1)replace RL and set 72 volt off to find Rth the circuit become
Example:repeate above example replacing 72 volt by 10Amp Example simplfy the following circuit to simple circuit around A,B,C AND D USING THEVENINE THEOREM
