She used textbooks, trade books, the library, the Internet, the Promethean Board, the document camera, calculators, games, and manipulatives to stimulate and enhance the learning process. Jacquelyn selected materials and projects that were appropriate for the age and various ability levels of the students. All materials were organized and prepared well in advance of the lesson to be taught. Sequencing of 8. activities was appropriate and coincided with the Michigan GLCE's. The children were able to work independently, in pairs, or in larger groups depending on the lesson. Jacquelyn was able to incorporate the Visual Thinking Skills in many of her lessons. Jacquelyn understood that a teacher must be very flexible and be able to make adjustments to the lesson depending on the situations that arise. She used many hands-on activities and had clear expectations for her students to support them to become independent learners. She differentiated instruction for the many levels of learning in the classroom.

She used the Internet and the library to obtain additional ideas and enrichment activities. She exhausted every source available to add enjoyment to the curriculum for the children. Jacquelyn became familiar with the Promethean Board and educational software and used both to enrich her creative lessons. She was able to relate experiences to the students' personal experiences and present this to the children in order to reach the long-term goals of the lessons. Jacquelyn understood and practiced awareness of multi-cultural and racial diversity and gender equity. 8. Technology was incorporated into the lessons that Jacquelyn planned both within the classroom setting and within the computer lab setting. Jacquelyn used various means to assess students' performance. Assessment and grading was done fairly with some student input. She recognized individual differences in evaluating children. The students received immediate feedback on their work and incorrect answers were treated quietly and with dignity. Reteaching, if necessary, was done in a positive manner so as not to single out a child. Jacquelyn was always reflecting on her lessons and adapting those lessons to the changing needs of her students. She was eager for feedback from her colleagues.

Learning Environment Comments: Ms. Sloan encouraged each child to do his/her best. She challenged those who were ready for enrichment and helped with remediation activities for those who needed them. She emphasized positive techniques to motivate children. All children were dealt with fairly and judiciously. She handled discipline problems when they arose with discretion and effectiveness always being alert to the safety of her students. The classroom was arranged in a neat and orderly manner with the children seated in table groups. When children needed to be put in cooperative groups for learning, 4. Jacquelyn moved the children appropriately. Also, when children needed to be moved in order to concentrate better, she was quick to respond. Ms. Sloan assessed the students' prior knowledge to give meaning to her lessons. She encouraged students to seek assistance and ask questions. Group discussions were focused and kept under control. Jacquelyn was alert to her students' safety. She responded appropriately to their behavior and was able to manage unexpected situations when they arose. She attended to factors of temperature and lighting in the classroom. Jacquelyn participated in fire drills, tornado, drills, and lockdown drills.

Ms. Sloan was not trained for this environment, but learned the practices and adapted her lessons to fit the IB curriculum. She worked closely with the second grade team and the IB coordinator to learn the IB vocabulary and units of study. Ms. Sloan would be an asset to any staff. She participated willingly and eagerly in school and faculty activities while acting in an ethical and professional manner. She was enthusiastic and passed this on to the students. Jacquelyn genuinely enjoyed and loved teaching. She performed tasks effectively and on time. She demonstrated the ability for self-evaluation and 9. reflection. Ms. Sloan modulated her voice depending on the situation. She was sensitive to the needs and feelings of her students and colleagues. She wrote clearly and spelled correctly. Jacquelyn assumed responsibility often and freely and demonstrated initiative. She collaborated with staff and was a team player. Ms. Sloan took the time to help the second grade team make a movie with their students. She taught us step-by-step and was very encouraging with her comments. The second grade team credited her with the success of the project! She was a positive role model. Her enthusiasm, compassion for others, friendliness, and maturity make her an outstanding candidate for any elementary teaching position.

She communicated verbally with parents when necessary. All communication was legible and grammatically correct. Lessons were presented clearly and sequentially so the students were able to understand the material being presented. She dressed appropriately and professionally for our activities and was well-groomed. She was dependable, prompt, trustworthy, creative, energetic, warm, thoughtful, organized, and self-confident. Jacquelyn was perceptive and professional in her dealings with students, parents, and staff. She showed initiative, flexibility, and a willingness to go above and beyond what was expected of her. She was ethical, reflective, and innovative. Ms. Sloan upheld the policies and regulations of the school and the district. Ms. Sloan demonstrated the belief that all children can learn. She will be a valuable asset to any staff and I highly recommend her for a teaching position!

Her commitment to teaching, dedication to children, knowledge of curriculum and instructional techniques were exceptional. Jacquelyn was very innovative in her instruction with the students. She always looked for ways to make her lessons "Come Alive"! Jacquelyn made sure students were totally engaged at all times. She created an environment of active, successful learners. Her passion was a joy to watch. Jacquelyn became a part of the school community quickly. She readily volunteered her time in many ways, including in servicing staff on various technology issues. She earned respect from her students, colleagues and the entire community. Jacquelyn is professional at all times. She is extremely organized, dedicated, evaluative and reflective. She attended all professional development opportunities, staff meetings and parent teacher conferences. Jacquelyn swill be an excellent addition to the teaching profession!
