Racial Prejudice against Minority Groups

One of the fundamental bedrocks of human rights is the principle that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Discrimination and persecution on the grounds of race and ethnicity are clear violations of this principle.

Racial and ethnic discrimination continues to be a major human rights problem in the world today facing both minority and sometimes even majority populations.

Racial prejudice towards minority groups cause problems such as unemployment. In spite of high education levels many refugee groups experienced unemployment above the national average of 5%. People from exYugoslavian backgrounds fared better than Africans and Middle Easterners. This fluctuation in unemployment levels is commonly said to be the result of discrimination. The Yugoslavian refugees look more white or more of a British descent. This is a result of a massive 12% increase in full-time workers.

The consequences of racial injustice may take away of the quality of life that they deserve and have been striving for. Many of these refuges or minority groups have worked a lot harder than most of us as majority of them have fled or endured hardships and losses beyond our imaginations in attempt to give their families a better life.
