Living and nonliving things are matter. Matter is a solid liquid and gas, because matter is everything in the world. Therefore, Matter can be soft and hard. Matter takes up space because it forms together to create different shapes and sizes. If you mix to things together it becomes a mixture or a combination. In conclusion, the makeup of matter does matter. ! The pH can be measured in everything we drink. The pH level changes because of the different substances in the liquid. The lower pH levels have more acid. I learned that when we tested the substances only a few had a different pH level. We noticed that all the substances that had a pH level of four had caffeine in them. All but one of the substances containing water had a pH level of ve. We found that real lemon was the only substance with a pH level of three. The mode of all the substances is a pH of four. The average is a pH of six because it's saliva. For example, when I drank hot sauce (which has vinegar in it so it's a pH level of two) my pH level changed, and it gave me heart burn. I had some TUMS (which has a pH of nine). All TUMS really do is stabilize your pH balance. When you go to the ocean if you drink the salt water all it does is dehydrate you instead of hydrate you. If you go to the store and buy Arm And Hammer toothpaste they put baking soda inside the toothpaste. In conclusion, you need to know pH levels.! Thermal energy has to do with temperature. When we increased the amount of vinegar, the temperature rose when the steel wool was soaked. The insulations and heat from the furnace keeps my house warm. A furnace provides heat because wood, charcoal, propane, geothermal, water, oil, natural gas, solar, and biomass. Inside my body

my heart pumps creating heat for the blood, motion, energy from cells, and digestion create heat. Temperature will change with activity caused by reactions.! Magnetic elds come in a variety of sizes. Basically, there is a magnetic eld around our earth that keeps the earth from being exposed to the suns radiation. When we put two magnets under the bag of iron shavings they were attracted to the magnets in a pattern. Scientists have collected shards of pottery over the centuries and scientist tested the magnetic pull to determine how strong the magnetic was in that time. We cannot always see magnetic elds such as black holes.! Mendeleev, Curie, and Borlaug, had their own special science areas. Mendeleev created the rst periodic table. Curie died radiation due to her discoveries, polonium and radium. Borlaug spent forty years around the world to not starve from hunger, after he worked 20 years creating high protein wheat. These scientist made improvements for all of us. ! The periodic table helps us identify the elements. Coal and elements from the periodic table have an atomic number which is the number of protons. The elements are categorized by halogens, noble gases, metalloids, and others. Another way to put those into groups is by solids, liquids, gas, and known. In conclusion, we now have more elements discovered. Overall we've learned a little more about matter and about the people interested in chemistry.
