One beautiful spring morning a little rabbit named Thumper woke Friend Owl with some wonderful news A bab! deer had been born deep in the woods "It#s happened$" %ried the little rabbit "A new prin%e is born$" "&hat#s his name'" asked the animals

"&h!( his name is )ambi(" his mother replied Soon )ambi met all the other wonderful animals in the forest First Mrs *uail and her babies stopped to sa! hello Then Mrs Opossum and her famil!( who liked to hang upside down( smiled at )ambi +e,t( a mole poked his head out from the ground to wish )ambi a good da! E-en a little flo%k of bluebirds flew down to greet the !oung prin%e )ambi made friends with Thumper and a sh! little skunk %alled Flower The! laughed

and pla!ed together e-er! da! Soon( at the pond in the meadow( )ambi made another friend .. a pla!ful girl fawn named Feline Summer and fall passed happil! for )ambi And when the %old winter %ame( Thumper taught )ambi how to spin and slide on the fro/en pond )ambi had ne-er done an!thing like this before "0#mon( it#s all right(" Thumper told him "The water#s stiff$"

time together Then Thumper fell in lo-e( too$ +e,t it was )ambi#s turn Soon he met a beautiful doe in the meadow It was his old friend Faline$ )ambi suddenl! felt di//! and light as a feather$ 1e was twitterpated And from that da! on( he and Faline were alwa!s together One fall morning )ambi smelled something strange .. smoke 4ust then a ma3esti% stag appeared It was )ambi#s father( the 5reat 6rin%e "The forest is on fire$" he %ried "1urr! &e must warn the other animals to run to the ri-er island " )ambi and the 6rin%e warned all the forest animals

)ambi knew this was a great responsibilit!( but he was read! to a%%ept it And )ambi knew that when the last bit of smoke was gone( the animals would bra-el! rebuild their homes Fall on%e again turned into winter( and winter into spring The forest was lush and green and smelled of blooming flowers Soon Thumper and his little bunnies were waking Friend Owl on%e again Faline had gi-en birth to twin fawns All the animals proudl! %ame to %elebrate )ut no one was prouder than )ambi( the new 6rin%e of the Forest

Then the! %rossed the ri-er( where the! found Faline waiting for them )ambi and his friends wat%hed as fire destro!ed their forest homes and e-er!thing around them After the fire was out( the old stag turned to )ambi "I must lea-e !ou now(" he said "7ou will take m! pla%e as 6rin%e of the Forest $8
