Job Description:

Inform public about news, current events occurring locally, nationally, and internationally. Report news for newspapers, magazines, websites, televisions, and radio.

Often fast paced and dead lines are to be met


Attend press launches, courts, council meetings and other events

Interview people
Record notes and write stories

Skills Required:
Communication skills/ writing objectively People skills such as building relationships and conducting interviews Ability to be persistent in order to conduct interview Endurance or Stamina for fast pace life style and working long hours High School Preparation: Liberal arts classes should be taken in preparation for a wide range of subjects and topics.

Degrees can either be in Journalism or Communications


A bachelors degree is a must Journalist train on the job; short courses can be taken to learn new skills Short courses help adapt to new technology Degrees may be in any subject, although majoring in journalism can offer practical experience
