Classroom Behavior

In order top maintain an environment conducive to learning; it is necessary to put guidelines in place for classroom behavior.

Basic Guidelines: 1. No one is to leave the classroom once class starts unless it is an emergency. a. Unless you have a class immediately before this class, you are expected to take bathroom breaks before the beginning of class. b. Do not leave class to get a soda, coffee, etc. If you anticipate a need to drink something, bring it into class before class begins. c. If you have an issue that prevents you from attending class for continuous 80 minutes, you are to speak with the instructor to address the situation. 2. Questions are encouraged; however, before you ask a question ask yourself if the question is of value to the whole class. If it will not benefit the class direct the question to the instructor during office hours or via email. 3. Emails sent to the instructor must be written with proper capitalization, punctuation, and paragraph formation. In addition, a respectful salutation is expected. If these guidelines are not followed the email will not be addressed by the instructor.

Behavior Guidelines: Everyone is expected to follow the guidelines below. If anyone chooses not to follow the rules listed below, they will have points deducted from their final grade and may be dismissed from class until a meeting can be arranged with the instructor. 4. Do not begin to close notebooks, pack backpacks, or rustle papers until the instructor dismisses the class. 5. Cell phone use of any kind is not permitted in the classroom. Refer to your syllabus for further details. 6. You are expected to be courteous to fellow classmates and to the instructor. Disrespectful or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. 7. Note taking during class is required. Refer to your syllabus for further details. 8. Persistent side conversations are not permitted in class.
