Teaching Experience Lorna Byrne Middle School, Cave Junction, OR 10/2013- Current Instructional Assistant: Multi Handicapped Classroom. In this position I am responsible for teaching primarily kindergarten students with autism and downs syndrome. In the classroom we work on behavioral expectations in different environments, reading facial expressions and body language, motor skills, and pre-academic and academic goals. I keep data on the progress being made on IEP goals for both the district and the parents. Glendale Middle School, (student teaching) Glendale, OR 4/2013- 6/2013 Student teacher: World History. While in this position I followed the seventh grade class from subject to subject in the morning, teaching math, science, and language arts. In the afternoons I stayed in with the social studies teacher for two periods teaching world history. I implemented lessons, assessments, and hands on learning assignments. I also coordinated a school wide service learning project. Collaborating with other teachers to have students collect items and created cards and letters for deployed soldiers. Glendale High School, (student Teaching) Glendale, OR 1/2013-3/2013 Student teacher: U.S. history teacher. I planned and implemented a history unit covering the Great Depression era. I also spent half of my student teaching time in a special education classroom. During a WWII unit I had the students create their own textbook. Each group of students were assigned a country. They then had to provide information in their textbook on four main areas. For example; life on the home front and military strategy. I also tutored students who were struggling with basic reading and writing assignments. Within my general education classroom assignment I was able to make modifications for students that provided greater opportunities for success. Marianas High School, Saipan, MP 9/1/2010-7/2011 Classroom teacher: Chemistry, I developed and implemented chemistry curriculum including subject related experiments. I instructed students on the basic structures of atoms, isotopes, and ions. Students learned how to use the periodic table to predict charges of ions and ionic compounds. As an educator at Marianas High School I was also the assistant advisor for National Forensics League and drama club. I was the main advisor for the glee club. In addition to these tasks I was also part of a five person team creating an alternative high school program that serves the three island public high schools. Our team designed and implemented the alternative program from the ground up. This included designing the physical structure of the school, the SOP, and the curriculum.

The Job Council of Jackson County, Medford, OR 9/2008 7/2009 G.E.D tutor specializing in social sciences, math, reading, writing and technology instruction. I facilitated students developing proficient computer skills and basic education skills necessary to pass GED tests. Taught workshops to improve work ethics in youth ages 14-24. I also facilitated community service projects and networked within the business community to acquire needed supplies for students. I planned and facilitated team building activities, chaperoned field trips, collaborated with other instructors on projects and student improvement. In addition I also developed and gave presentations to colleagues concerning workshop material.
