gov/recyclecity Recycle City is divided into 4 quadrants- all of the parts of the city are clickable! You will need to explore the city to complete this quest. 1. - The bottom layer next to the earth is made of at least two feet of clay that has been pounded until it is very compact. Next is a layer of strong, flexible, very thick plastic, called high density polyethylene (HDPE). On top of the plastic is a onefoot layer of gravel with pipes running through it. The leachate collects in these pipes and is pumped out of the landfill and filtered. Above the gravel is a layer of very tough fabric, called geotextile fabric, to protect the pipes. The overall idea is that you start with a dumpy, dirty city, and you will start recycling programs that will improve your city. 15) Your goal is to reduce the amount of paper going into the landfill, while spending as little money as possible. I ended up with 45 tons of paper and cardboard waste and it cost $10,300. 17) Now try to reduce the overall waste in the city. You cannot spend more than $200,000.
