Students should be able:

They can make informed choices to maintain their health and well-being and can explain reasons for these choices. They should be able to assess the element of risk attached to making these choices about lifestyle and personal safety.

Global (Real Life) Learning Intention: Get the S NS!"#$ attitude Students will understand the messages about the dangers of sun exposure and the need for protection. Skin cancer, is the most common cancer in ew !ealand with about "## people dying from melanoma each year. Students will understand that sunburn, particularly from childhood and adolescence is a ma$or cause of melanoma in late life. %uch of this cancer can be prevented if children practice SunSmart behaviour whenever they are out in the sun.
