RFC 4760 [56] defines an extension to BGP4 to enable to carry routing information for multi le !et"or# layer rotocols suc$ as %P&6' internet"or# ac#et exc$ange (%P)*' +,-P!'etc. /nd t$ese extensions are bac#"ard com atible' t$at is' a BGP s ea#er t$at su orts t$ese extensions can intero erate "it$ BGP s ea#ers t$at do not su ort t$ese extensions. 0o ro&ide bac#"ard1 com atible multi rotocol ca abilities' RFC 4760 introduces t"o ne" at$ attributes' multi rotocol reac$able !+R% (2P3R4/C53 !+R%* and multi rotocol unreac$able !+R% (2P36!R4/C53!+R%*. is used to carry t$e set of reac$able 0$e attribute 2P3R4/C53!+R% destinations toget$er "it$ next7$o information to be used for for"arding to t$ese destinations. 0$e attribute 2P36!R4/C53 !+R% is used to carry a set of unreac$able destinations.
