Philosophy of Education The purpose of my philosophy of education is to show personal educational beliefs and values about how I would

approach ideal student learning. To be an effective teacher, it is important to have one. These points are the foundation of my interests in child development, and from this people can acquire a more comprehensive sense of my beliefs and intentions. The real purpose of education in our society is: Learning right from wrong. Teaching empathy. Development of knowledge throughout the students schooling that will help them be successful in their lifetime. The role of students in education when they are in the classroom is: To ask question, participate, and give input into their education. To be respectful, prepared, and motivated about their learning. To collaborate with their teacher and their classmate. The role of teachers in the classroom is: To be a mentor, and a positive role model. To facilitate students learning. To be knowledgeable about the content they are teaching. To create a nurturing and safe environment. To build confidence in their students. I believe students learn best when: They feel comfortable and safe in their classroom with their teacher and classmates. The class and teacher are working cooperatively. The material is organized and authentic. They are working toward learning goals that they set for themselves. They are able to explore, discuss, and relate topics to their life outside of school. Goals for all of my students include:

Demonstrating creativity and curiosity. Treating themselves and others around them with respect. Developing a deep understanding of content and be able to apply that knowledge to problems in and out of the classroom. Being active in their learning. Being responsible and positive role models in their community.

Effective teachers should: Have a passion for teaching young people. Have Control of their classroom. Respect for their students as well as expecting it in return. Get to their students level and relate to them. Have different strategies and differentiate learning to reach each child. Make instruction engaging and be flexible when problems occur. My role as a community member is to: Volunteer my time. Help in ways that make the community a better place. Be a positive role model. Work hard at everything I do. Collaborate, and network with people. My beliefs most align with Progressivism and Social Reconstructionism. I want to be a facilitator, helping my students formulate meaningful questions and create strategies to answer these questions. I also believe that students interests, concerns and curiosities are important factors to create curriculum around. My teaching philosophy reflects that there are many aspects that go into being a teacher that can make a difference in the lives of children. I love helping children, and as a future educator, I will always put my students needs first while making sure learning is occurring in my classroom.
