The opportunity to contribute my proficiencies at your school is an appealing prospect. I believe that my passion for students, dedication and commitment to work ethic, and zest for teaching, would make me a tremendous asset to this district. It is my ambition to secure a position in which I am able to educate and help develop the students appreciation for music. I am confident that my professional and educational background will be well utilized to aid in the success of the students at your school. As a graduate of Grand Valley State Universitys five year music education preparation program, I have had the opportunity to engage in a variety of classrooms, covering multiple areas of music. I completed a semester of teacher assisting in Comstock Park, MI for a general music class for grades two through five and a semester of student teaching at Forest Hills, MI in a choral classroom for grades six through eight. During my year of internship, I collaborated with my mentor teachers to plan and teach a variety of lessons, establish and execute a management plan for the music classroom, and facilitate music in a cross-categorical classroom for students with special needs. I had the opportunity to individually design and implement unit plans for both the elementary music setting, and choral history to align with the Common Core State Standards. In addition to my duties as a student teacher, I was given staff responsibilities such as attending conferences and professional development seminars. What I hope you will draw from my inquiry is my experience working with variety of students ranging from pre-school, to students with special needs, and to collegiate level ensembles in multiple areas of music. This provided a rich environment to draw upon student capability and knowledge to make learning authentic to the students on an individual basis. The opportunity to work in such diverse music settings has become one of my greatest strengths as a candidate to be considered for your school district.
