Career and Academic Planning Certification (CAP-C)

Competency 1: Discover and utilize goal-setting techniques and college success skills. Competency 2: Identify values, interests, personality, skills, and strengths to create a personal profile. Competency 3: Make connections within personal profile themes and understand how these themes connect to major and career options. Competency 4: Explore a decision-making model to guide the academic and career development process and become aware of barriers to decision-making. Competency 5: Systematically explore majors and careers, using online, people, and experiential approaches. Competency 6: Develop a two-year educational plan integrating academic, career, and co-curricular goals and skills development. Competency 7: Begin building basic career development skills related to creating self-marketing materials (focus on resumes and basic networking skills).
