Aims

To introduce students to the Third Level credit system. To encourage students to work to deadlines. To promote self-directed learning. To develop relevant skills e.g. use of IT, team-work, oral and written presentations, research, time-management. To minimise absenteeism.

Structure
Four modules in the academic year, both English &

French. Students must complete one credit-based assignment (oral/written) in each module. Credits are allocated as follows-50% for attendance and 50% for assignments. These will be recorded on their reports cards. At the end of the year ,each student will get a cert.-Pass(40-55),Merit(56-70) or Distinction(70100) in their Folders on the TY Presentation evening.

Absenteeism
Students are expected to complete assignments.
Their journal will be stamped to excuse legitimate

absences provided that the teacher has prior written confirmation. Students will get credit if on school-related activities- recognised TY Work Experience placements etc.

Report cards
V.S Ware - roll will enable the system to calculate

the students attendance percentage automatically. The assignmentbased credit will be analysed by the teacher . There will be a report at the end of the year recording the mark for the assignment and a comment. There are three grades of certification- Pass, Merit or Distinction. At their TY Presentation evening, each student will get a cert with her grade in /hisher folder.
