"Tourism it's always a good thing"

Since tourism is now an integral part of modern society, I personally feel that we should give careful consideration to both the economical and environmental impacts of this business. It's widely known that visitors do not come only to admire the landscape, monuments, customs of the area, but also to consume, and therefore foreigners are often seen as a vital source of income. y simply providing services for them generates a ma!or decrease in the unemployment rate, for e"ample, people can be needed in the construction of access routes #airports, harbours, new roads, cable railways, car$parks% and tourist accommodation #hotels, restaurants, bars%, plus other infrastructure, which all provide well$paid !obs. &n the other hand, in order to make a destination more appealing and diversified, wealthy resort owners often create support facilities and artificial attractions #countless swimming pools, e"tensive tennis and golf courts etc.%, thus creating a more en!oyable visit, and conse'uently enticing tourists to stay longer and of course, spending more. (espite the considerable profit, this happens unfortunately to the detriment of the natural environment, leading to severe ecosystem damage, which I cannot agree on. &ther people may think that unlike other industries, tourism has been generally friendlier to the environment, being a key factor in the conservation of wildlife habitats and heritage areas, such as the )ational *arks around the world. +owever, tourism carries within it the seeds of its own destruction, if one analyses the behaviour of tourists of all levels of education and culture. ,hether it is deliberately or not, they "contribute" substantially to air, water, noise, natural habitat, and even social pollution which, taken to e"tremes, can result in hooligans, drug dealers, prostitutes, beggars and hustlers. In conclusion, after looking at both sides of the coin, anyone would agree that even though tourism has its disadvantages, its benefits seem to outweigh them, or at least keeping the balance.
