By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

(P) Demonstrate correct bumps and sets with 90% accuracy during the entire lesson (NASPE #1; MA CF # 2.17; Task/Activity # 1-4) (C) Explain when to use a bump or a set in a game of volleyball with 100% accuracy when asked to by the teacher (NASPE # 2; MA CF #2.17; Task/Activity Closure) (A) Respect each of their classmates and work well with their partner for the entire lesson(NASPE # 5; MA CF #2.26 ; Task/Activity #1-3) Check each objective is it specific? SEQUENCE OF LESSON
Students will enter the locker room and get changed and prepare for class. Introduction: Warm- Up: Students will perform their routine S warm- up led by the S students. S 2 minute jog 10 Push-Ups 10 Crunches Introduction: Teacher will discuss the focus of the day, start and stop signals, safety and questions. 1. Hello My name is Ms. G. 2. Start and stop signals: Whistle 3. Safety: Be aware of stray volleyballs in the air or on the ground. Look out for the nets. 4. Focus of the lesson: bumping and setting. 5. They will then stand on the marked lines approximately 15 ft apart. And wait for the teacher to tell one person from each pair to grab a volleyball. Activity #1: T will tell the pairs to begin. Students will practice the bump between their partners. One partner will be the tosser, the other will be the bumper. They will complete passes for a minute and then when the teacher says switch they will switch roles. Once the students have both had a turn, T will ask one pair that has done well to demonstrate the bump. Extensions: Harder: Tosser will toss the ball to the sides of the passer Easier: The tosser will move closer Transition: Students will bring it into the center of

the gym. Activity #2: T will demonstrate a continuous bump between the partners while they remain where they are. If they cannot see they may step closer. Each pair will try to see how many consecutive bumps they can get in the time given. Transition: Students will gather in the center of the gym in front of the teacher and hold their volleyball. T will demonstrate Transition: Students will S go back to their original spots and begin practicing S the set. One student will be the tosser and one student will be the setter one minute. Once the teacher blows the whistle the students will switch roles. When both partners have had a turn the students will now try to get as many continuous sets that they can. Extensions:

Transition: students will return the volleyball and gather at the center of the gym in front of the teacher. The teacher will ask each team to stand together. Activity #4: T will explain and have one team demonstrate this activity. Students will create a circle with their group. One group member will be told to get a ball. When the teacher blows her whistle the teams begin. The object of the game is to get the highest number of passes in a row between the teams using a bump and set. Each pass must be yelled out so everyone can hear. Everyone must hit the ball No double hits. - Once the students have completed this activity once they will do it again. This time they have to

On each return you increase the amount of hits that your team uses to return the ball. Each team must call out how many hits they are doing. Transition: One student from each team will put away the volleyball. Students will gather around the teach in the center of the gym. Closure: Students will be asked when they should use the bump?
