Team Building
!
An Opportunity for Everyone Crossing the river-! The activity will begin with breaking the class up into two teams. The purpose of this activity is to get the whole team from one side to the other without touching the ground. One side of the river being the baseline and the other side of the river being half court. The teacher will have 10-15 different objects laid out. Each team will be given the chance to pick 5 or so objects. These are the only objects the team is allowed to use for getting from one side of the river to the other. Pick wisely. !

Helium stick- A great activity for students to grasp an understanding of the difculties of working with a group. The students will all use their right arms and extend their pointer ngers out. Once all students have their ngers out and are ready, the teacher will place broomstick on top of their ngers. The goal of the task is to get the broomstick down to the ground without having the stick make a noise.! Turning over a new leaf-! Students will break up into two teams of 7-9. All the students will be standing on one side of an 8x8 tarp. Students will work together to turn the tarp over. If any student steps off the trap they must restart from the beginning. Hands may be used; if there is a group of students who complete the skill quickly you may modify the lesson by not allowing students to touch the tarp with their hands. Another adaptation would be not allowing students to talk to one another. !

Number trust-! In this activity students will be placed into groups of 10 or more. All the students will form a circle facing each other. The rst time through the students will count 1-10 (or how ever many students are in the circle) with eyes open and looking at the fellow classmates. Students may not follow numerical order with the students adjacent to them or students say the same number at the same time. If students break the rule they must start the activity over. Once completed students will do it again but placing their heads down with eyes closed. The same rules apply to this version of the game. !

Air Drop- ! Students will be split into pairs. Each pair will be given two 15-foot strands of twine and four foam balls. The mission of this activity is to get all four balls into the 5-gallon bucket in the middle. Students must get the ball to the bucket by using angles and levels to successfully move the ball overtop the middle bucket. When the ball is over the 5-gallon

! bucket the students will place slack on the line to allow the ball to fall. Students must be careful about the amount of slack allowed on the line or when they decide to allow slack on the line. If the ball drops outside the bucket students must recover their ball and start from the beginning. !

Blindball- ! Split the students up into two teams, one being offense and other defense. The defense will pick out two people to play defense and one person to play goalie. Offense will pick one player for their team. The boundaries can very depending on how much room you have. We will be using a smaller area due to the connements of the room. The blue tape marks the boundaries. All players on the eld will be blindfolded and will have to navigate by listening to their teammates. The offensive player will be giving a ball and their mission is to put the ball in the net. The defenses goal is to tackle the offense by touching the offense with two hands. If the offense scores or the defense gets a tackle all players must exchange positions with in their teams. The two teams will both have 10 minutes to score as many points as they can. A fun adaptation for our class could be to place other obstacles like chairs or dummies in the area of play.!
