See the elephants with long trunk swinging Great big ears and long trunk swinging Snuffing up peanuts with long trunk swinging We can stay all day!

*Repeat chorus

See the tall giraffes with long neck stretching Poking out tongues with long neck stretching Munching on leaves with long neck stretching We can stay all day!

*Repeat chorus

See the slippery seals splish, splash, splashing Diving in the water splish, splash, splashing Doing funny jigs and splish, splash, splashing We can stay all day!

*Repeat chorus

Great big rhino he's huff, huff, a-puffing Horns too heavy he's huff, huff, a-puffing Don't get too near the huff, huff, a-puffing Or you won't stay all day!

Song: We went to the animal fair

I went to the animal fair, The birds and the beasts were there, The big baboon by the light of the moon Was combing his auburn hair, The monkey bumped the skunk, And sat on the elephant's trunk; The elephant sneezed and fell to his knees, And that was the end of the monk, The monk, the monk, the monk, The monk, the monk, the monk.

I went to the animal fair, All the birds and the beasts were there, The big baboon by the light of the moon Was combing his auburn hair. You should have seen the monk, He sat on the elephant's trunk; The elephant sneezed and fell on his knees, And what became of the monk, The monk, the monk, the monk, The monk, the monk, the monk?

And...

I went to the Animal Fair. The birds and the bees were there, The big baboon by the light of the moon, Was combing his auburn hair. The monkey fell out of his bunk. Slid down the elephants trunk. The elephant sneezed and fell on his knees, And what became of the monkey, Monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey.

The first group then carries on while the second group sings the verse again.

Song: At the zoo

At the zoo, at the zoo, at the zoo. What can you see at the zoo? Lions, and tigers, and elephants too.

Maybe a monkey or two you might see a giraffe or an ostrich. A panda eating bamboo. At the zoo. At the zoo. You might see some snakes in the reptile house. A spider in the insect house. Lets hope they dont get out of the zoo. Theres Harry the hippopotamus. His old friend, Ron, the rhinoceros. The hippo and the rhino, smiling at you. At the zoo. At the zoo. You might see flamingos and alligators. Maybe polar bears and brown bears too. Funny little meerkats and cute capybaras. Amus, wambats, koalas, and kangaroos. At the zoo. At the zoo. At the zoo.

At the zoo. At the zoo. Lions, and tigers, and elephants too. Maybe a monkey or two you might see a giraffe or an ostrich. A panda eating bamboo. At the zoo. At the zoo.

ANIMALS ARE SO CHARMING:

(Sung to the tune of "Skip to My Lou") Verse 1: I went to the city zoo, Saw a camel and a gnu, Saw an anaconda, too! Animals are so charming. Chorus: Zoo, zoo, trip to the zoo, Zoo, zoo, trip to the zoo, Zoo, zoo, trip to the zoo, Animals are so charming. Verse 2: I looked at the tall giraffe; Watched a hippo take a bath; And the monkeys made me laugh. Animal are so charming. (Repeat chorus.) Verse 3: The gorilla had some swings; Penguins flapped their funny wings; And the seals swam through some rings. Animals are so charming. (Repeat chorus.) Verse 4: Polar bears gave me a fright! Zebras' coats were black and white. Elephants stood at great height. Animals are so charming. (Repeat chorus again)

Poem: TEN LITTLE PENGUINS

Ten little penguins, Standing on the ice. All of them are smiling, They seem so very nice. They play out in the snow, All the winter long, They eat a lot of fish, Which makes them big and strong. *********************************** Poem: BIG GRAY ELEPHANT The big gray elephant slowly walks. She doesn't make a sound. She swings her trunk from left to right When she puts her feet on the ground. Swing, swing, left and right, She doesn't make a sound. *********************************** Finger play ELEPHANT ACTION PLAY "Who is the animal baggy and gray, (Circle both arms.) That walks in the forest with a sway? (Sway both arms.) Who runs around on big, big toes, (Point to toes.) And feeds himself with his nose? (Point to nose.) The elephant!" (Clap hands 1 time.) ***********************************

Poem: GIRAFFE Of all the animals in the zoo, I am the tallest. That is true. Who am I? I am the giraffe. I am brown and white with a little red, And I have two knobs on the top of my head. Who am I? I am a giraffe. My neck is long, I am very tall, But I don't have very much voice at all. Who am I? I am a giraffe. I have one big ear on each side of my head. High up in the air is where I am fed. Who am I? I am a giraffe. I walk right up to the tallest tree. And I eat the leaves that are good for me. Who am I? I am a giraffe. *********************************** Finger play: The Zoo This is the way the elephant goes (clasp hands and move arms back and forth dangling) With curly trunk instead of nose The buffalo all shaggy and fat Has two sharp horns in place of hat (point fingers out from forehead) The hippo with his mouth so wide Lets you see what is inside (open and close hands to make mouth movements) The wiggly snake upon the ground Crawls along without a sound (weave hands back and forth) But the monkey see and monkey do Is the funniest animal in the zoo (put thumbs in ears and wiggle hands) ***********************************

Finger play: The Elephant He's ever so big and ever so fat, (hold hands high and then apart) He has no hands, he has no toes, (shake finger and head for no) But goodness gracious, (hands on cheeks) Such a nose! (put right fist on nose and go down, making an imaginary trunk) *********************************** Poem: The Kangaroo It is a curious thing that you don't wish to be a kangaroo, to hop hop hop and never stop the whole day long and the whole night, too! to hop across Australian plains with tails that sweep behind like trains and small front paws and pointed jaws and pale neat coats to shed the rains. If skies be blue, if skies be gray, they bound in the same graceful way into dim space at such a pace that where they go there's none to say!

Poem: If I Were Lost

If I were lost inside a zoo I think that this is what I'd do, I'd say "Giraffe, please look around, your head so high above the ground. Will you point out to me the place where you can see my father's face."

Song: At the Zoo

I see elephants with heavy legs, Eating bacon and eggs I see giraffes with very long necks Playing with the horses around a deck. I see zebras wearing black and white, Running freely under the sunlight. I see monkeys, making funny tricks Eating bananas, and playing with sticks. I see the seals swimming in the pool And sitting with grace on a wood stool. I see children holding colorful balloons, Next to a cage where I can see raccoons! I see people walking around, Listening to the foxes making their Wow, wow sound.

Finger play: Five Little Monkeys Swinging in a Tree Five Little Monkeys Swinging in a Tree Teasing Mr. Alligator, "You can't catch me!" "You can't catch me!" Along comes Mr. Alligator quiet as can be.... SNAP (Clap hand together like an alligator mouth shutting quickly) Four little monkeys swinging in a tree... (Keep repeating until no little monkeys are swinging in a tree.) (We swing our hands upside down to look like the monkeys swinging, and when the alligator is coming we put on hand over the other and wiggle them back and forth like an alligator swimming toward something. When the monkeys tease we wiggle our fingers by out heads and shake out fingers for can't catch me. At the end we say "Missed me missed me now you have to kiss me!

Poem: Zoo Fun As we go walking through the Zoo This is what we'll see,

Elephants and hippos, And monkeys in a tree. Tigers roaring loudly, Giraffes who stand so high, Dolphins swimming freely, And parrots in the sky. So let's all go walking, Having fun the whole day through, As we go on our field trip, To the friendly city zoo. LION SONG I'm a little lion (Tune of I'm a little teapot) I'm a little lion on the plane Here is my tail here is my main When I get excited you will see just how loud my roar can be I'm a predator on my feet Here are my claws Here are my teeth When you come to Africa you will see just the place that I will be
