Floor Plans
also known as staging design/plan A floor plan is an eye view of the stage or where the actors play out the drama. It is a map of the setting. The floor plan shows the edges of the walls and outlines of what is in the setting, the set props.

How to Create a Floor Plan


Read the script paying careful attention and taking notes about any set requirements that are specifically mentioned in the script. For example, some plays require stairs or will have references to door placement. Measure the width and depth of your stage. Sketch a floor plan layout of the set. Most sets need a minimum of three walls, so begin with these, setting the stage-right and stage-left walls at an angle extending outward toward downstage to allow maximum set area. Include any door openings within the walls, and sketch the movable set pieces such as furniture or platforms.

The Importance
floors have become an additional creative element that add to audiences' understanding of a production's setting and mood. to avoid the unexpected accidents - slippery floor (affects the performance of dancers/actors) to ensure the smoothness of the flow of a performance without stage floor plans, a theatre cannot be regarded as a success
