For a student to receive pathway completer status and receive a well-rounded education within a particular pathway it is recommended the students complete the "faculty recommended classes" in order. Students should complete a minimum of 4 courses listed including the course listed as the Capstone Completer Course as noted with an *. A minimum of 3 course must be selected from the Foundational Courses. The additional courses listed with each pathway serve to enhance the preparation provided the student within the pathway. Students can complete more than one career pathway as several of the foundational courses are required in multiple career pathways.

This course focuses on integrating biological/physical science with technology as related to the environment, natural resources, food production, science and agribusiness. Topics include agricultural awareness and literacy, leadership and FFA, employability skills and introduction to all aspects of the total agricultural industry. This course provides instruction focused on the basic scientific principles and processes that are involved in animal physiology, breeding, nutrition, and care in preparation for an animal science career. Topics include animal diseases, nutrition, career opportunities and animal evaluation. Supervised agricultural experience and FFA are integral components of this course. This course may be eligible for articulated/college credit This course expands upon the scientific knowledge and skills developed in Animal Science 1 to include more advanced scientific, computation, and communication skills. Topics include animal waste management, economics, decision-making, global concerns, genetics and breeding. Supervised agricultural experience and FFA are integral components of this course. This course may be eligible for articulated/college credit This course develops knowledge and technical skills in the broad field of agricultural machinery, equipment, and structures. The primary purpose of this course is to prepare students to handle day-to-day problems, accidents, and repair needs they will encounter in their chosen agricultural career. The topics include non-metallic agricultural fabrication techniques, metal fabrication, safety, human resource development, metal working and welding, plastics, and advanced career exploration and decision-making. This course examines life management skills in the areas of personal and family living, wellness, nutrition, and foods; financial management; living environments; appropriate child development practices; fashion and clothing; and job readiness.

PRINCIPLES OF BUSINESS & FINANCE

This course examines nutritional needs of the individual. Emphasis is placed on the relationship of diet to health, kitchen and meal management, and food preparation. This course focuses on advanced food preparation techniques while applying nutrition, food science, and test kitchen concepts using technology. Food safety and sanitation receive special emphasis with students taking the "ServSafe" credential from the National Restaurant Association. A real or simulated food enterprise allows students to apply instructional strategies to an authentic experience and to develop a portfolio. This course may be eligible for articulated credit. This course introduces the major principles and concepts that are the foundation for future study of business and management. Topics of study include basic business principles, personal finance concepts, management concepts, systems thinking, quality management, and the current environment for business in a multinational marketplace. This course may be eligible for articulated/college credit.

The use of fibers and fabrics is combined with design and construction techniques to develop and produce a clothing or housing apparel product. This course focuses on housing needs and options of individuals and families at various stages of the life cycle. Emphasis is placed on selecting goods and services and creating functional, pleasing living environments using sound financial decisions and principles of design. This course is designed to help students master advanced skills in the areas of integrating technology devices, internet research strategies and uses, complex desktop publishing, multimedia production, and basic webpage design. Emphasis is placed on skill development and refinement of skills in information technologies as well as economic, ethical, and social issues in the information technology area. This course may be eligible for articulated/college credit. This course provides a broad-based foundation in the digital media field. An emphasis is placed on the fundamental concepts of audio and video design, various digital media technologies, non-linear editing, product development and design, and career development. This course introduces the major principles and concepts that are the foundation for future study of business and management. Topics of study include basic business principles, personal finance concepts, management concepts, systems thinking, quality management, and the current environment for business in a multinational marketplace. This course may be eligible for articulated credit. This course provides students with more advanced knowledge in the digital and interactive media industry. Emphasis is placed on advanced audio and video non-linear editing techniques for media; and commercial and emerging, web-based interactive media.
