Previous Model United Nations Experience:

Delegate of the Argentine Republic, Security Council Hong Kong Junior Model United Nations Hong Kong SAR, November 16th 17th 2012 First ever Diplomatic/MUN experience involved representing Argentina on the issue of Water-borne illnesses prevention, although this was quickly disrupted by the emergence of a complex emergency topic regarding the emerging situation involving the Syrian Arab Republic. I was recognized by the Chairmen of my committee as a prolific delegate and was awarded the accolade Outstanding Delegate Press Core member for the B.B.C., Press Core Harvard Model United Nations Beijing, China, March 20th 24th 2013 While participating as a journalist of the Press core was not ideal, the opportunity to attend a conference filled to the brim with more than 3,500 delegates was absolutely fantastic, specifically considering this would involve collaboration with students aged older than 16. Noted by the leading officer as a capable political writer, I was recognized with the Outstanding Delegate award out of a few hundred Press core journalists, even as the youngest delegate within the committee.

The Duke of Wellington (UK), Congress of Vienna DCMUN Discovery College Model United Nations Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR June 12th 2013 Perhaps my fondest MUN experience, the Congress of Vienna involved brilliant debate over the construction of a peaceful post-Napoleonic Europe, in which as the delegate of the UK represented by the Duke of Wellington, I was able to achieve my initial goal of establishing a British maritime naval presence around the 3 respective sides of the Spanish Peninsula to contain the last remaining threat to the country at the time. As a bonus Corsica and Sardinia also ceded to the British Empire, perhaps one of my greatest diplomatic achievements colonizing another nation through only diplomatic means. Delegate of the United Kingdom, Human Rights Council Xiamun Xiamen Model United Nations Xiamen, China November 7th 10th 2013 Another rewarding experience, this was the first opportunity Id received to represent my home nation. The first topic of discussion regarded sanitation preventing large-scale disease, while the latter discussed Womens Rights globally. As a Big 5 nation I felt obliged to submit a resolution to the house. Eventually it was my intention to pass one per topic to the General Assembly, which evolved into a brilliant success; with the Human Rights Council voting 20-0-0 to indicate their 100% agreement with the clauses within. It was for this performance that I was accolade with my first ever Best Delegate award.

Chairman of the High Commission for Refugees HKJMUN Hong Kong Junior Model United Nations Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR November 16th- 17th 2013 I was pleasantly surprised by the sleek progression that was my first chairing experience in Model United Nations. Working with over 30 delegates aged between 12-14, I was comfortable with maintaining decorum and following the specific order of proceedings of this brilliant beginners conference. I was recognized by the organisers; Victoria Shanghai Academy as one of the most prolific external Chairman and was the recipient of a small token of their appreciation, which certainly was an honour. Delegate of Uganda, Disarmament and International Socio-Economic Committee HMUN China Harvard Model United Nations Beijing, Peoples Republic of China March 19th 22nd 2014 Participating in a joint delegation in a committee with over 150 delegates in attendance, I would consider this to be my most challenging conference yet. As an African nation with a corrupt government and unstable Human Rights record, our delegation felt it would be unlikely a resolution submitted would pass through the General Assembly for consideration. On this basis, our delegation set the role of ensuring those resolutions that were submitted to the house involved the stance of the Ugandan government on the issue of Narcotics Trafficking. Unfortunately our school had to depart early from this session of HMUN China, although the highlight for me was receiving a standing ovation (which in fact was against Parliamentary Procedure) and helping to persuade the house to amend and eventually pass a resolution that presented a solid resolution to the issue at hand. Id consider this to be one of my better Model United Nations performances.

Closing Remarks
While I passionately feel that Id like to further extend my involvement in this brilliant programme, I still do understand that a number of other initiatives are available to me here in Hong Kong as a student of Discovery College, to help extend my possibilities within the Diplomatic sector. Leadership obviously plays a pivotal role in deepening this involvement, and therefore I maintain the position of Year 9 Ambassador, a faculty-elected post that attempts to link the voice of the students to the administration. Additionally, my cohort elected me a member of the prestigious Student Council a congregation of 26 students, 2 per yeargroup that represent the school both externally however additionally maintains strong links with the Higher level faculty of Discovery College.
