CHECK/ASSESS:

Group Practice/Work Activity #1: (5 minutes)

The teacher will set expectations for working in groups. Your groups must be productive and on task in order to complete the parts assigned to you. If you choose to go on or complete other problems in the packet once you are done with your section you may do so.

Smartboard Directions

There will be only work on math and you will get points taken off of your participation grade if you are not working the entire time. If too many points are deducted from your participation grade then a phone call will be made home and you will receive a demerit. The tasks in the packet are labeled mild, medium, and spicy. I will instruct your group on which portion of the packet I think you should complete when I speak to your group individually. Your packets will be turned in for actual credit on doing each problem correctly. The groups and locations will be then displayed on the board. Activity #2: (35 minutes) Students will receive their packet and move into their groups. They will work for the remaining time on the tasks at hand. If they finish early they may try or attempt other portions of the packet. You will have time to work on this packet for about 10 minutes tomorrow and then your portion must be turned in. I will not be here tomorrow so make sure you have sufficient time to complete your tasks at hand. CHECK/ASSESS: This activity allows the teacher to assess the students understanding of concepts based on ability level. It is a highly differentiated lesson and the students are held accountable for what they are capable of doing at this point in time. Packets will be turned in the following day for a grade. There will be a short factoring quiz at the end of class tomorrow. Your sub will administer it to you during the last twenty minutes of class. Have fun at homecoming tomorrow! The packets are differentiated in three groups mild, medium, and spicy. This distinguishes the difficulty of each problem and serves as a scaffold for the students. Different groups will be assigned problems sets that they are believed to be able to complete. A struggling set of students could be assigned mild and medium problems, while a more advanced group could be assigned medium and spicy.
