One of Australias most notable women was Caroline Chisolm. Caroline Chisholm was born in England, 30 May 1808. she was named Caroline Jones. Caroline was christened and grew up as part of the Church of England. As she grew, she became convinced that God was calling her to dedicate her life to help people in need.

WHAT CONTRIBUTION DID CAROLINE MAKE TO AUSTRALIA THE WORLD?

She had other women who had come to live here. She worked to improve life on the ships bringing people to Australia to start a new life and started a loans plan to bring poor children and families to Australia. Caroline achieved many things she did housing and support for poor families waiting to migrate

Why did Caroline take this path in her life?

Caroline said I promise to know neither country nor but to serve She had to contend with the primitive conditions of a colonial society and a bitter religious controversy. She was handicapped by lack of material resources, but she had great personal assets.

HOW DID CAROLINES WORK MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD?


The arranged free trips so that the families of convicts who were transported to Australia could come to join them. Chisholm was shocked when she saw bounty girls living on Sydneys streets. In Victoria her Shelter Sheds provided cheap and safe accommodation on the road to the Castlemaine Goldfields. She also believed poor people should be able to buy farms cheaply. Caroline Chisholm's work has been remembered in several ways. Her face has appeared on stamps and on a bank note.
