Teddy Bear Sweater

(Straight Sleeves)
Approximately 75 yards of worsted weight yarn Size 8 needles Approximately 4 stitches per inch (gauge is not important, really, the bears dont mind)

BACK: Cast on 30 or 31 stitches (if doing ribbing go with 30, if doing seed stitch go with 31 stitches) Work edging as desired for 4 rows. Work in stockinette stitch until sweater measure 4 inches from cast on edge. Knit across 10 stitches, bind off center 10 stitches, knit across last 10 stitches. Purl back across these 10 stitches. *Knit 2 together at neck edge. Purl back across row.* repeat from * to * twice. Bind off all stitches. Rejoin yarn to other shoulder, beginning with a purl row & repeat decrease rows. Bind off. FRONT: Work as for the back until work measures 3 inches from cast on edge. Knit across 10 stitches, bind off center 10 stitches, knit across last 10 stitches. Purl back across these 10 stitches. *Knit 2 together at neck edge. Purl back across row.* repeat from * to * three times. Bind off all stitches. Rejoin yarn to other shoulder, beginning with a purl row & repeat decrease rows. Bind off. SLEEVES: (make 2) Cast on 20 or 21 stitches (if doing ribbing go with 20, if doing seed stitch go with 21 stitches). *Work edging for 4 rows. Work 4 rows of stockinette stitch. Next row: increase 1 stitch at each end.* Continue in this manner from * to * until sleeve measure 3 inches from cast on edge. Bind off. Stitch shoulder seams together. Match sleeves to shoulder and stitch together. Stitch side seams together. NECK: Pick up and knit a total of 34 stitches around entire neck edge. Work in edging of choice for 4 rows. (Top-Down Raglan Style)
Approximately 65 yards of worsted weight yarn Size 8, double point needles Approximately 4 stitches per inch (gauge is not important, really, the bears dont mind)

BEGINNING: On Double point needles, LOOSELY cast on 6 stitches, place a marker, 8 stitches, place a marker, 6 stitches, place a marker, 8 stitches, place a marker of a different color to indicate beginning of round (28 sts total). Join in the round. Knit 4 rounds. BEGIN INCREASES: Round 1: Increase 1 stitch before and after each marker. Round 2: Knit one round plain. Repeat these 2 rounds 6 more times for a total of 6 increase rows (76 sts total). DIVIDE FOR SLEEVES: Thread a tapestry needle and move 18 stitches to yarn for a sleeve. Knit across the next 20 stitches. Place the next 18 stitches on yarn, knit across the next 20 stitches. Place a marker to mark the beginning of round. Knit in the round until work measures 4.5 inches from cast on edge. Work 4 rounds of edging of your choice. Bind off all stitches loosely. SLEEVES: Return 18stitches to double point needles, rejoin yarn and knit in the round for 2 inches. Decrease 2 stitches evenly in one round. Work 4 rounds in the edging of your choice. Bind off all stitches loosely. Repeat for the second sleeve.
