Describing People

The composition should be divided in three parts:

Introduction: You briefly set the scene giving general information about the person,
saying how, when, or where you first saw, met or were introduced to that person.

Eg: Iñaki is my best friend. We were introduced by a mutual friend at “The Donosti”
a few years ago as I needed someone to talk in English, and he was a teacher. We got
on well immediately and we have been friends ever since.

Main body: You describe physical appearance, character(personal qualities),

hobbies/interest. You should write a paragraph for each topic.
*To describe physical appearance, you should give details of the person's age,
height/build, facial features, hair, clothing, etc moving from the most general
aspects to the details.

Eg: Iñaki, who is in his early-forties, is of medium height and average build, with an
oval face and receding hair. He's got beautiful almond brown eyes and a charming
smile. He wears casual clothes.

*To describe character (personal qualities) you can support them with examples or
mannner and mannerism (the way they speak, the gestures a particular
habit)and/or justifications.

Eg: He is very outspoken, and always says what he feels. He has an extraordinary
sense of humour and really cracks me up. But what I really admire about Iñaki, is his
integrity and loyalty, as he is always there whenever you need him.

*To describe hobbies/interests, lifestyle and beliefs, you should talk about the
person's habits, interests, daily routines,....

Eg: In his free time he loves reading and watching films, particularly independent
ones. Iñaki also enjoys playing boarding games, and he's absolutely fantastic at
“trivial”.

Conclusion: You write your feelings and/or comments.

Eg: My friend is one of the nicest people I've ever met. I really enjoy sharing
things with him. It's always fun being with him, and you never feel blue. I know for
sure we'll be friends forever.
