TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hightstown, High School -- Hightstown, New Jersey Spring, 2014 Taught five choirs grades 9-12 as a student teacher. Focused rehearsals on the development of healthy vocal technique, sight reading skills, proper diction, understanding of musical line and phrase and choral blend. Rehearsals included working with adolescent changing voices and connecting musical understanding to global perspectives and various stylistic genres. Provided individual coaching to students preparing to perform in the school musical. All teaching aligned to the Danielson Framework for Teaching. Written rehearsal plans and assessments conformed to Understanding by Design by Wiggins & McTighe. East Brunswick Elementary School -- East Brunswick, NJ Spring 2013 Taught general music to children grades 1-5 in a supervised practicum. Musical experiences focused on differentiating instruction by using Kodly and Orff strategies to foster creativity and musical literacy. Lessons aligned to the New Jersey Common Core Standards, and included opportunities for students to hone P21 skills of collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and communication. Formative and summative assessments were included in all learning engagements. Classroom activities were modified for students with special needs who were mainstreamed into the program. Pennsbury High School -- Yardley, Pennsylvania Fall 2013 Taught two levels of high school music theory in a supervised practicum. Content was developed to prepare students for the Advanced Placement (AP) Music Theory examination. Constructivist strategies fostered student musical agency. Westminster High School Music Theater Workshop --Lawrenceville, New Jersey Intern for Music Theater Workshop 2011-2013 Prepared students for performances in a music theatre showcase and a full-scale Broadway musical. Taught ensemble numbers and coached solo singers. Conducted the final showcase performance.

The ensemble is an audition based female choir comprised of students from Central, New Jersey. Led warm ups and rehearsed repertoire for the select ensemble Cantores; directed by Tom Shelton RELATED EXPERIENCE Westminster Choir College Office of Admissions 2010-2013 Admissions Ambassador Responsible for office duties, giving student tours, preparing materials for prospective students, and encouraging students to choose the college.
