of pupils: 27(9boys, 18 girls) Day/Date: Monday/ 6th April 2014 Time Theme Topic Focus : 60 minutes (9.45 am- 10.45 am) : World of Stories : Rosemary and the four gutsy gnomes : Reading 2.2 By the end of the 6 year primary schooling, pupils will be able to demonstrate understanding of variety of linear and non-linear texts in the form of print and non-print materials using a range of strategies to construct meaning. Learning Standard: 2.2.2 Able to read and understand phrases and sentences from : (a) linear texts 2.2.3 Able to read and demonstrate understanding of texts by: (b) predicting with guidance Learning Outcomes : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to : 1. Answer correctly at least 4 out of 5 open-ended comprehension questions based on reading texts. 2. Predict the ending of the story by writing at least 3 out of 4 sentences correctly.

PreReading ( 20 minutes)

Can someone give a few names of characters in the story? Who is the main character in that story?

1. Teacher displays the reading texts Rosemary and the four gutsy gnomes on the board. 2. Teacher explains the activity and asks pupils to skim through. 3. Teacher asks a few questions to selected pupils.

1 .Pupils read the texts displayed by teacher. 2 .Pupils read the story and then pay attention to their teacher. 3 .Pupils listen and repeat after teacher.

1. Teacher divides pupils into 5 groups and explains the activity. 2. Teacher gives a piece of paper to each group that contain questions about story Rosemary and the four gutsy gnomes. 3. Teacher asks each group to write the answers in mahjong paper. 4. Teacher asks each group to paste the paper on the board and checks their answers. 5. Teacher asks pupils to read and discuss the answer.

1. Pupils sit in groups and follow teachers instruction. 2. Pupils read the questions and discuss in their group. 3. Pupils read the story again to find the answer. 4. 1. Teacher gives a sample of ending of the story and a worksheet. 2. Teacher asks pupils to complete the worksheet given by referring to the story. (Predict the ending of the story). 3. Teacher asks pupils to exchange their answer sheet with their friends. 4. Teacher asks the selected pupils to read their answer.

1. Pupils read the story silently and complete the given worksheet individually by referring to the story. 2. Pupils listen to the teacher and mark their friends answers. 3. Pupils give opinion and answer the question given by teacher.
